West Brom striker Saido Berahino was praised for his performance for the club's U21 side on Monday evening.

Berahino played the entire game and scored one of the goals as Albion defeated Swansea City 3-0 at Tamworth's Lamb Ground.

The 22-year-old striker was given some more match action after being an unused substitute for West Brom's 2-2 draw with Liverpool in Sunday's Premier League match at Anfield.

Midfield duo Callum McManaman and Serge Gnabry also remained on the bench for the clash with the Reds and joined Berahino in the U21 side.

The three senior players delighted Albion's U21 boss James Shan with their attitude.

He told his club's official website: "They approached the game in the right manner. They wanted to play. At some clubs you might get players who are told to play but I've not had that. They've come down and improved the performance and shown the right mentality."

Berahino, who was a deadline-day target for Tottenham in the summer, also featured for West Brom's U21 side last Monday when he scored in a 2-1 defeat to West Ham and he was delighted to get another outing.

He tweeted: "Another 90min under my belt, nothing I love more than playing and enjoying it-topped it with a win."
