West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Montpellier striker Steve Mounie, although the French club's £13m valuation of the player might be an issue, according to Sky sources.

Baggies manager Tony Pulis has made the signing of a striker his top priority this summer having seen his side struggle for goals during the closing weeks of the season.

West Brom scored four goals in their last nine Premier League matches, with Salomon Rondon their only fit senior striker.

Mounie, a product of the Montpellier academy, enjoyed an impressive 2016/17 campaign, netting 14 goals and providing three assists in 35 Ligue 1 appearances.

The 22-year-old, who has also been linked in the British media with a move to Fulham, has two years remaining on his contract at Montpellier.

Mounie has previously spent time on loan at Nimes and has represented Benin at international level, scoring once in five appearances.

Sky sources also understand West Brom hold an interest in Mainz forward Jhon Cordoba.
