Alan Pardew close to appointment as West Brom boss ahead of Newcastle clash

Alan Pardew is in advanced talks to take over as West Brom head coach.
Pardew confirmed to Sky Sports on Sunday that he had held talks with the Midlands club and was keen to succeed the sacked Tony Pulis.
Caretaker boss Gary Megson will remain in charge for the midweek Premier League game at The Hawthorns, however, after grabbing a draw at Tottenham on Saturday.
Former Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss Pardew has a strong relationship with Baggies technical director Nick Hammond since the two worked together at Reading.
And Pardew told Super Sunday: "I've had discussions with them. Obviously it is an attractive job so we'll see where it goes.
"It is a club that has a really good set of players and I think it is a good opportunity for a manager and if it is me then it is me.
"They've got good quality in there and maybe they should be doing slightly better than they are. I think looking at them and the depth of the squad it definitely has improvement in there so hopefully that's what they'll do."
Pardew has been out of the game since being sacked by Crystal Palace in December 2016 and is poised to replace Pulis, who was dismissed last week following a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea.
