Jay Rodriguez has been charged by the FA for alleged racial abuse of Gaetan Bong during West Brom's match against Brighton on January 13.

The West Brom forward is alleged to have "used abusive and/or insulting words which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race".

Richard Garlick, West Brom's director of football administration, said: "As a club we remain fully supportive and committed to backing Jay throughout this process."

Alan Pardew claimed after the game - which finished 2-0 to West Brom - that Rodriguez had told him Bong's claims were untrue.

The Brighton defender reported Rodriguez's alleged comments to Martin Atkinson during the game, and the referee then passed them on the FA to investigate.
