Don Goodman believes Wolves are the best team he has ever seen in the Championship and expects them to have no trouble adjusting to life back in the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side, who are unbeaten in their last eight matches, were crowned champions on Saturday after thrashing Bolton 4-0 at the Macron Stadium.

And former Wolves forward Goodman has heaped praise on his old club, who will just miss out on the Championship record points tally of 106 points set by Reading, should they win their final two matches.

"They've been probably the best team I've ever seen in the championship, I'll go as far as to say that," Goodman explained on Premier League Daily.

"They just had a little blip which has just cost them a couple of points that ultimately as far as that record goes is going to cost them but I think any team that gets 100 points in this league is a special team and you look at those teams, they were all special teams that got to 100 points.

"Leicester, two seasons later, were winning the Premier League.

"They have been magnificent in every conceivable way this season."

Wolves' remarkable turnaround since the arrival of former Portuguese goalkeeper Nuno as manager last May will see them return to the Premier League for the first time since their relegation in 2012 and Goodman believes they will steer clear of relegation next season.

He added: "I think it is just about survival for most teams but they've got very, very ambitious owners that haven't been afraid to say that they want to get into the Premier League and when they do they don't just want to survive there and I actually believe that's a good attitude to have and I actually believe that they are very, very capable of having a comfortable season in the Premier League without being in a relegation battle."

Wolves' stellar season culminated in both Ruben Neves and Conor Coady being recognised in the EFL Championship team of the season and Goodman highlighted the pair, along with top scorer Diogo Jota as central to their success.

"He (Coady) is testament to how Nuno's coaching has really impacted on how wolves have played," Goodman said of the former Liverpool midfielder. "This lad's range of passing has been a key to defence to the wingbacks into the forward areas. He has been absolutely magnificent all season."

Jota, who arrived on a season-long loan deal from Atletico Madrid last summer, has scored 17 times, putting him just three goals behind the league's leading scorer Matej Vydra.

And Goodman has questioned Atletico's decision to dismiss the young midfielder from their first team plans.

He continued: "He's come from Atletico Madrid.

"I can't for the life of me believe that he's not good enough to get into their team.

"He's been very special along with Neves, arguably the best two players, but he provides goals, assists, work-rate, everything that you would want from a forward-thinking player.

"The players I've mentioned they simply didn't really belong in the Championship to be honest and now they're not going to be there."
