Duane explains Burnley move

Burnley new-boy Duane Courtney had an anxious deadline day.

Burnley's new signing Duane Courtney has admitted he had an anxious deadline day before sealing a move to Turf Moor.

Courtney finally plumped for Burnley at the eleventh hour, despite overtures from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Telford star.

The defender admitted that he had been left drained by the rush to complete the move - signing a two-year deal for documents to be rushed through minutes before the window closed.

"I'm absolutely shattered after deadline day," Courtney told the club's website.

"It was back and forth from Wolves to Burnley and Burnley to Wolves.

"They are both big clubs, but I just want to play football and there is a great set of boys here."

Courtney impressed manager Steve Cotterill (pictured) on a trial in the summer, and a nasty knee injury to Wayne Thomas precipitated an urgent need for defensive cover at Turf Moor.
