Southampton's Victor Wanyama has put his failed move to Tottenham, during the summer transfer window, behind him and is now totally focused on the future with Saints.

After the move to White Hart Lane fell through, the Kenyan was left out of the Premier League game against Norwich with the club saying he was not "mentally and physically good enough to play".

According to media reports, he has now been offered a new five-year deal on the south coast with Wanyama ready to devote his energies to Southampton.

Asked about the failure to move to Spurs, he said: "I just don't want to remember that situation. Now I've forgotten what happened.

"I'm now progressing at my club and it's been good, so I'm looking forward to putting in good performances."

As for Southampton's 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Wanyama added: "This is special.

"We expected a very, very tough game, and we came out and showed what we can do.

"I think this is one of the best away wins. They're a really really difficult team to beat, especially at Stamford Bridge, so very glad to have the maximum points."
