Southampton will appeal against the red card shown to Sadio Mane in their 2-1 win at Stoke City on Saturday.
Referee Lee Mason gave the forward a straight red card in the first minute of second-half stoppage time when he caught Stoke's Erik Pieters in mid-air having mistimed a jump to challenge for the ball.
Immediately after the game Saints boss Ronald Koeman indicated the club would appeal the dismissal while questioning why Mason turned down a penalty claim for Stoke 'keeper Jack Butland's challenge on Dusan Tadic.
Speaking about both incidents, Koeman said: "It's a penalty, and the red card isn't a red card. We will appeal against that."
Southampton confirmed the appeal on Monday morning: "Southampton FC can confirm we have lodged an appeal against the red card shown to Sadio Mane at Stoke on Saturday."
Mane's red card was Southampton's sixth of the season, the highest total for any Premier League team.
A Football Association spokesman has confirmed the appeal will be heard on Tuesday.
