Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic says they have to find a way of getting out of the relegation zone

Dusan Tadic has spoken of his shame at the position Southampton find themselves in at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

Saturday's 3-0 defeat at West Ham leaves the Saints third from bottom, two points from safety, and the midfielder says it is not good enough.

He told Sky Sports News: "We should be ashamed that we are in this kind of situation. We still have seven games to go and we need to try to get out of this situation, it doesn't matter how, we need to do something.

"The first thing is we need to fight together and try to win matches, this is most important. It doesn't matter how, we need to find solutions to win games.

Tadic believes Mark Hughes, who replaced Mauricio Pellegrino as manager last month on a short-term contract until the end of the season, is the right man to keep the Saints up.

Mark Hughes admits his Southampton players are lacking confidence following their 3-0 away defeat at West Ham, his first league game in charge

"I think he has had a big impact, you can see on the training pitch that we are better, " he added.

"We put more energy into our training sessions and the environment is also better and because of that I was very mad that we let the game go against West Ham because we were in a good way.

"We just need to keep training as well as possible because we have very good coaches and training sessions and we need to get benefits from that.

Live Nissan Super Sunday

Southampton have three home matches and four away games to put things right, starting at Arsenal on Sunday live on Sky Sports, and Tadic says results are more important than quality of performance at this stage of the season.

"Everything is still really open but we need to watch ourselves," he went on. "We need to take points, this is most important and as I say it doesn't matter how, we need to find a solution.

"It is always a tough game when you play against Arsenal, they have good players and it doesn't matter what kind of moment they are in.

"We always play well against them and in the last couple of years we have had good results against them and I hope we will get a good result at the weekend."
