Clarets want Dyer stay

Steve Cotterill wants Nathan Dyer to stay with Burnley until the end of the season.

Burnley boss Steve Cotterill is hoping the club can retain Nathan Dyer's services until the end of the season.

The pacey winger is currently with The Clarets on a month's loan and is due to return to Southampton at the end of November.

Cotterill has been impressed with the Saints starlet and is hoping Harry Redknapp will allow him to remain at Turf Moor until May.

"I've already mentioned to Harry that I would not only like to extend it by a month or two months, but I'd like to keep him for the season," Cotterill said.

"There's no point thinking that Nathan Dyer will be able to participate in 30 or 40 games on the spin, because young players can't often do that.

"I think all conversations are best kept between myself and Harry. Harry knows the score and I'm sure if he can help us and help Nathan's career then I'm sure he will do that."
