Defender Sol Bamba has been charged by the Football Association in relation to an incident during Cardiff's game against Ipswich in the Sky Bet Championship on December 10.

The 31-year-old reacted angrily to a late tackle by Ipswich midfielder Jonathan Douglas, before jabbing his finger in the direction of fourth official Charles Breakspear.

Bamba also pushed his manager Neil Warnock as a number of players and officials tried to restrain the Ivory Coast international, who was subsequently shown a red card for his actions.

A statement on the FA's website, read: "It is alleged that his language and/or behaviour in or around the 69th minute of the fixture was abusive and/or insulting and/or threatening and is considered sufficiently serious to warrant an additional sanction."

Cardiff's Sol Bamba argued with the fourth official and his own manager Neil Warnock against Ipswich

Speaking shortly after the game, Warnock said of the incident: "I have no complaints about the red card. It is disappointing that we lose one of our best players for three matches.

"I didn't really want to talk to Sol after the game so I will see him tomorrow. He just lost his rag but it was an aggressive attitude and I don't condone Sol's behaviour.

"He is distraught in the dressing room and quite rightly. For me, he is one of the best in the Championship and that was a blemish I haven't seen in his make-up."
