TURNER'S PILGRIMAGE TO REKINDLE CAREER
FORMER postman, Mike Turner, has headed west in his bid to resurrect his football career and joined Third Division strugglers Plymouth Argyle on a week's trial.
The 24-year-old former England Universities player is currently with Barnsley, but has been told he does not feature in the plans of manager Dave Bassett.
Turner has just returned to The Tykes after a two-match trial spell with Rotherham, but he failed to impress Millers boss Ronnie Moore.
He lined up for Argyle's reserve side in a friendly match with Newport County this week, which The Pilgrims won 7-0. Turner managed to get himself on the scoresheet and set up another, and he will hope to have impressed Argyle's under-fire boss Kevin Hodges (pictured).
Argyle have had a dismal start to the season and were soundly thrashed 5-2 by Westcountry rivals Cheltenham on Saturday.
