Crystal Palace have more than a dozen manager targets

Crystal Palace have identified more than a dozen candidates as their search for a new manager continues, Sky Sports News HQ understands.

Following Sam Allardyce's sudden departure, chairman Steve Parish was keen to persuade former Hull manager Marco Silva to join the club, only for negotiations to have reached an advanced stage with Watford.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche along with former Leeds manager Garry Monk are thought to be two of the candidates under consideration.

American owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer are keen to carry out a strict due diligence process to find the candidate best suited to make sure Palace avoid another relegation fight during the 2017-18 campaign.

Palace have traditionally favoured a British coach, with Italian Attilio Lombardo the only non-British manager to have ever taken charge of the south London club.

However, the Palace board is well aware of the recent successes enjoyed by both German and Portuguese coaches in England and are keen to make sure the best options both home and abroad are considered.
