Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Sweden U21 international Erdal Rakip on loan from Benfica until the end of the season.

Sky Sports News reported on Saturday that the 21-year-old midfielder was set to undergo a medical with the Eagles after flying into London with his advisor Hasan Cetinkaya.

Rakip is a product of the Malmo academy and left his hometown team earlier this month to join Benfica on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The central midfielder made 120 appearances for Malmo, winning four league titles during his five seasons as a first-team player with the club.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says making four signings in January in order to cope with their injury problems is not unrealistic.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson, who managed Malmo earlier in his career, said last week he wants to sign at least four players in January.
