Crystal Palace target Vicente Guaita is expected to stay in Spain and remain with Getafe, according to his manager Jose Bordalas.

The goalkeeper has been monitored by Palace throughout the January window, who also faced competition from Premier League rivals Watford.

Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guillem Balague revealed this week that the 31-year-old had passed a medical with Palace, though the Eagles are considering whether to take the player in January.

Guaita is out of contract in the summer and will be available on a free transfer, though any January switch would require a team to meet a buy-out clause.

For Palace to bring the goalkeeper to Selhurst Park this month, a £3.5m fee would have to be paid.

Speaking in his press conference on Friday, Getafe boss Bordalas admitted he was convinced Guaita would remain in Spain this month.

"I think he will stay, I am convinced about that. I have spoken to my president about it. He has now recovered from injury and has trained with his team-mates and I think I can include him in our next game," he said.

Guaita has kept five clean sheets in 18 matches for Getafe this season, and is expected to feature when the team face Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.

The player came through the ranks at Valencia before moving to Getafe - currently ninth in La Liga - in the summer of 2014.
