Crystal Palace are in advanced talks to sign goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.

The 35-year-old is a free agent who was released by Fluminense in Brazil last year and he has been training at Palace's south London training centre for the past week.

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed the club are in talks over signing him until at least the end of the season and hopes the club can reach an agreement soon.

"He's been very good. He's been with us for just over a week now," Hodgson said ahead of Tottenham's visit to Selhurst Park live on Sky Sports on Super Sunday.

"He was released by his club in Brazil and we invited him over to do some training with us, and see how we like him and he likes us. I'm hoping that we will reach an agreement with him.

"Doug Freedman and Steve Parish have been working very hard to get that agreement, to at least stay until the end of the season. I believe they are well advanced in those discussions but unfortunately not so far advanced that he'll be available for Sunday."

Palace host top-four chasing Tottenham while sitting just a point above the relegation zone after 27 games.
