Fulham missed out on the potential season-long loan signing of Norwich striker Gary Hooper on deadline day, according to Sky sources.

The Whites were keen to add another forward option before the window closed and Hooper was their first-choice target - but they could not agree terms with the Premier League club.

Hooper has fallen down the pecking order at Carrow Road and has made just two substitute appearances so far this season, having signed for the club in a £5m deal from Celtic in 2013.

The 27-year-old has scored 20 goals for the Canaries and made 70 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Fulham also hoped to land another central defender after confirming the signing of Richard Stearman from Wolves, but failed to land first choice target Michael Mancienne.

The Whites launched a bid for Nottingham Forest's Michael Mancienne last week, according to Sky sources, and inquired about Lyon defender Bakary Kone on Monday.

It is understood current defenders Nikolay Bodurov and Dan Burn were therefore available for a loan and a permanent deal respectively, with several Championship clubs interested in Bodurov and Burn the subject of a bid from Sheffield United on deadline day.

Young Fulham striker Adam Taggart also agreed to join Scottish club Dundee United on a season-long loan.
