Former QPR striker Kevin Gallen would like to see the club appoint Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett as the long-term successor to interim boss Neil Warnock.

Warnock has returned for a second spell on a temporary basis after the club sacked Chris Ramsey on Wednesday.

QPR will undergo an "immediate recruitment process" and Gallen, who made 414 appearances over two spells at Loftus Road, believes Jackett would be an ideal candidate for the role.

"It's a good club, there's always money to spend on players so it's an attractive proposition for any manager, but I'd love to see Kenny Jackett get the job," said Gallen.

"He's done a great job at Wolves after they got relegated (to League 1) a few years back.

"They had players on a lot of money, and he pushed them to the side and brought on the younger players and they got promoted straight away and only just missed out on the play-offs last season."

Chris Ramsey gives his post-match reaction to QPR's 1-0 defeat to Derby. The former Rs boss has since been replaced by Neil Warnock at Loftus Road.

Gallen did accept if results improved under Warnock, it would be silly to change before the end of the season.

"The chairman's probably thought Chris and Les (Ferdinand, director of football) have no experience of getting promotion, and you can't knock Neil's record in that department," said Gallen.

"He's had numerous promotions with different clubs so I think the aim of the board and the chairman is promotion.

"QPR's financial position isn't that good and the money on offer to get in the Premier League next season is massive, so that's where the pressure has come and Chris has fallen on his sword.

"I'd see how it goes. If Neil gets the team winning and nearer the top of the table, I think he'll see it out to the end of the season and then we'll see if he takes it on permanently, or let someone younger take over."

Gallen admits whoever sees the season through will need to re-establish the style of play the club wishes to adopt moving forward.

"They're not too far off the play-offs, but form recently hasn't been good. I've watched them numerous times this season and the players, especially the new signings, haven't stepped up to the plate.

"One minute they're looking to roll the ball out from the back, the next they're going long, so it's a difficult one to put your finger on."
