Burton have given QPR permission to interview Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink about their vacant head coach role.

Interim boss Neil Warnock will be in charge for Thursday night's trip to Reading but the R's hope to have Chris Ramsey's permanent replacement in place by Friday.

And Hasselbaink appears to be in pole position, having impressed since taking charge of the Brewers in November of last year.

Burton's hunt for a new manager is underway and Sky sources report that the issue of compensation for the Brewers shouldn't block the Hasselbaink deal, although it has not yet been formally agreed.

After failing to keep QPR in the Premier League last season, Ramsey was sacked at the start of November after the west London club made an inconsistent start to life back in the second tier.

Former R's boss Warnock, who returned to the club as a first-team adviser earlier in the season, has been at the helm since then while the search for a full-time boss continued.
