Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be appointed head coach of Queens Park Rangers on Friday, according to Sky sources.

It is understood that talks with club officials on Thursday were positive and a compensation figure has been agreed with Burton Albion, Hasselbaink's assistant, David Oldfield, at the Pirelli Stadium will join him at Loftus Road. 

The Dutchman has been linked with a switch to QPR since Chris Ramsey's departure on November 4 and Rangers now look to have secured their man.

Prior to QPR's goalless draw at Reading, caretaker-boss Neil Warnock confirmed he was picking the team for the last time, although Hasselbaink was not at the Madejski Stadium for the game.

The Dutchman enjoyed a successful career as a striker with a number of clubs, including Leeds, Chelsea and Middlesbrough, as well as the Netherlands, and was given his first job in management by Belgian Second Division side Royal Antwerp.

Hasselbaink left in May 2014 before taking over at Burton in November of the same year after Gary Rowett departed to join Birmingham.
