Queens Park Rangers need to help Sandro earn a move back to the Premier League, according to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Sandro scored twice on his first appearance for QPR since last December to help them come from behind to beat Rochdale 2-1 in the EFL Cup second round at Loftus Road.

The Brazilian, who ended last season on loan at West Brom, is keen to find a new club and has insisted he is fit despite previous knee trouble.

"Sandro played well. He's fit and he wanted to play," Hasselbaink said. "I've got no problem with Sandro and he's got no problem with me. We are working very well and he's been very professional.

"He came back a little bit later after pre-season which is why we had to nurture him a little bit."

Sandro, 27, was in talks over a move to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon earlier this summer, according to Sky sources, but is yet to find a move away from Championship side QPR. The midfielder joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur in a £6m deal in 2014.

"Sandro sees himself as a Premier League player and we need to help him to get there or the Champions League with a club in another country," Hasselbaink added.

"That's what he wants and you have to respect that. But I am working with the players who want to be with us in the Championship.

"Sandro is a good player who has played at the highest level, and physically he is in the right place."
