Leicester will hold talks with Sampdoria over a deal for 17-year-old right-back Pedro Pereira, according to Sky Italy.

Manager Claudio Ranieri is understood to be very interested in the highly-rated prospect who has represented Portugal at U15 to U18 level.

Pereira, who joined from Benfica last year, has featured in five matches since making his debut against Bologna on September 14.

The Foxes are also close to completing the signing for Birmingham's young winger Demarai Gray - their first of the winter transfer window.

Leicester's scouting and recruitment department is extensive and rigourous, and has recently received praise after the successes of strikers Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy.

Genoa, meanwhile are interested in Leicester centre-back Yohan Benalouane, who has only made seven appearances since a summer move from Atalanta.
