Leicester are in discussions to sign Hannover 96 goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, according to Sky sources.
Hannover said in a statement released on their official website earlier on Sunday that the Premier League champions had activated the release clause in Zieler's current contract.
The 27-year-old - capped six times by Germany - will undergo a medical in England if terms are agreed.
The talks are still at an early stage, and Leicester have made no comment.
Hannover's statement read: "Ron-Robert Zieler has exercised the option right enshrined in his contract and Hannover 96 has been informed that he will travel to the English champions Leicester City for contract talks.
"In addition, the 27-year-old goalkeeper will complete the sports medical examinations in England."
Zieler started his professional career in 2008 at Manchester United, but never made a competitive appearance for the club and was allowed to leave for Hannover two years later having briefly spent time out on loan at Northampton.
He has since made over 200 appearances for Hannover and was part of Germany's 2014 World Cup winning squad, although he did not make an appearance during the finals in Brazil.
