Marco Silva to trigger release clause and leave Hull City

Marco Silva is set to trigger his release clause and leave Hull City with immediate effect, Sky sources understand.

The 39-year-old former Sporting Lisbon and Olympiacos head coach took over at the KCOM Stadium in January in the wake of Mike Phelan's sacking, with the club bottom of the table.

Crucially, however, Silva arrived on a contract which is understood to contain a release clause allowing him to leave Hull following their relegation from the Premier League.

On Wednesday, Silva returned from trips to Portugal and Switzerland to discuss his future with Hull chairman Ehab Allam, but despite those talks going long into the night, Sky sources believe he is now ready to exit the club.

Porto, who parted company with manager Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday, are interested in bringing Silva in, as are Watford and Crystal Palace following the dismissal of Walter Mazzarri and resignation of Sam Allardyce respectively.

While Silva was unable to keep the Tigers in the top flight, he made a huge impact during his spell, winning six home games and keeping them alive until the penultimate game of the season.

The club's supporters chanted for Silva to stay throughout their 7-1 defeat to Tottenham on the final day, but it is understood he has rejected that opportunity and now looks set to depart.
