Five wins in their last six league games has seen Leeds move up to fourth in the Sky Bet Championship table, but if they are to continue to push for promotion, Monk believes the squad may need to be improved in January.

"In terms of incomings, ideally we need to help the squad," Monk said. "We have quite a thin squad as it is. It [any signings] would only be to help the squad that we have.

"We have been together six months now and it is working in a good way. The only way we would bring someone in is if it will help us.

"If we can do the right business, for the right player, right situation, then like every transfer window, you will look to boost the squad you already have."

Monk is also aware that Brighton will be no pushovers on Friday, insisting they are among the very best in the division.

QPR forward Tjaronn Chery looks ahead to Sky Sports' EFL 10 games in 10 days, including his side against Aston Villa on December 18th.

"They will be in the mix at the end of the season," Monk added.  "They are where they are because they deserve to be. They have a squad that is established with a lot of experience. They have been very unlucky in this league too, and if things would have gone in their favour a little bit more, they could already be in the Premier League.

"We are looking forward to it [facing Brighton]. We are approaching every game with the right mentality and are concentrating on ourselves.
