New Leeds United co-owner Andrea Radrizzani adopting careful approach in transfer window

New Leeds United co-owner Andrea Radrizzani says the club are planning to be “active” in the transfer window but is cautious about disrupting the progress manager Garry Monk has made.
Leeds are third in the Sky Bet Championship after winning nine of their past 11 games, including a 1-0 victory over Derby on Friday, and a return to the Premier League is being discussed as a very serious prospect at Elland Road.
As a consequence of that form, Radrizzani – who completed his purchase of a 50 per cent stake in the club on January 4 – says the club will tread carefully when it comes to transfer activity this month.
“This is a common question when the market is open and I think all of the clubs are active,” Radrizzani told Sky Sports News HQ. “We are also active. Our manager and CEO of the club and they are exploring the opportunities on a daily basis.
“We are keen to explore those opportunities but at the same time we are very careful to make sure we don’t change too much or impact on the balance of this team and what the players have created this season.”
Radrizzani, who recently sold 65 per cent of his media rights company to Chinese investors for $1bn, bought half of Leeds United from now co-owner Massimo Cellino and spoke of his desire to restore the famous club to its former glories.
“It’s always been my dream to buy a football club and it wasn’t expected but the opportunity came up,” he said.
“I love challenges and Leeds is a sleeping giant so I hope with my contribution we can get the club back to a better time.
“We are very pleased with the performance that the club is having this season and the team is very united.”
