AFC Wimbledon have signed Oldham striker Rhys Murphy on loan until the end of the season.

Former Dagenham & Redbridge forward Murphy has already played in League Two this season having had a loan spell at Crawley, where he scored nine times in 16 appearances.

The 25-year-old, who will be eligible to play for the Dons if they reach the play-offs, has netted three goals in 14 outings for Oldham this campaign.

"With Bayo Akinfenwa suspended and Tom Elliott struggling, we were down to two strikers," Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley told the club's official website.

"Rhys has had several clubs after him so we thought it was the right time to strike."
