Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has no doubt the club's fans will get behind new signing Caolan Lavery following his arrival from city rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

The Blades have paid an undisclosed fee for forward Lavery, 23, who put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

"I'm sure he'll be a success here and I'm positive our supporters will take to him even though we've signed him from across the city," Wilder told the Blades' official website.

"I played with a player called Carl Bradshaw, who started his career at Sheffield Wednesday and became a real favourite (at Bramall Lane) because he worked his socks off and gave everything for the shirt.

"Hopefully Lavs can do what Brads did."

Wilder's side have made a disappointing start after being tagged again as favourites for promotion from Sky Bet League One and lie in 20th place following their first win of the season at the weekend.

Wilder, determined to increase the club's firepower, added: "We're delighted we're getting a hungry, aggressive player. He doesn't give centre-halves a moment and works his socks off and has the ability to score.
