Rochdale have signed Cambridge utility player Keith Keane on loan until January.

Keane, 29, can play at full-back, centre-back or in midfield, and has made over 350 senior appearances at Luton, Preston, Crawley, Stevenage and Cambridge.

"I'm very excited to be here. I've worked hard throughout pre-season and I'm desperate to get back playing football," Keane told the official Rochdale website.

"I've spoken to (manager) Keith Hill a few times over the years and I've come to watch Rochdale in the past because I've got a couple of friends here (Ian Henderson and Calvin Andrew).

"They have had nothing but good things to say about the manager, the club and the place itself - they thoroughly enjoy it.
