Charlton midfielder Alou Diarra has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
Former France skipper Diarra, 35, has not featured for the Addicks this season following the club's relegation to Sky Bet League One.
"I would like to say thank you to the fans and to the club for giving me a chance to play in England," Diarra told the club's official website.
"I'm very proud of the experience I have had here and I will never forget my time at Charlton."
Diarra, who made 44 appearances for France, fractured a bone in his foot at Bristol City on Boxing Day and although he returned to action in February, further complications have kept him out of action this season.
"Last season was very difficult, but I gave everything for the shirt and always tried to do my best," he added. "It is now the right time to leave for me and my family to go home to France."
Diarra has made 45 appearances for Charlton since arriving on a free transfer in February 2015 following his release by West Ham, who had signed him for £2million from Marseille in August 2012.
