Mark Beevers' injury-time strike gave Bolton a win at Southend which increases their lead over third-placed Fleetwood to 10 points.

The game at Roots Hall appeared to be heading for a stalemate when Beevers rifled home in the first minute of stoppage time to take all three points for the Trotters, who are also now just three points behind leaders Sheffield United.

Fleetwood have played a game fewer than Bolton, however, and travel to Oxford United on Wednesday night to make up that fixture.

Millwall capitalised on Southend's loss to reduce their advantage as the team in the final play-off place to goal difference alone with a 2-1 win at Shrewsbury. Byron Webster and Shaun Hutchinson put the Lions in control and Shaun Whalley's injury-time effort proved to be little more than a consolation.

Charlton boss Karl Robinson had a night to forget against his former club MK Dons, who picked up a 2-0 victory at the Valley. Cardiff loanee Stuart O'Keefe put the Dons in front after only seven minutes with Harry Barnes putting the seal on the result with a 53rd-minute strike.

The Dons remain firmly entrenched in mid-table which Charlton are now just four points clear of the relegation zone with five games left to play.

Port Vale remain in the scrap to stay in the division after a 3-0 loss at Rochdale, who are five points off the play-off places as a result. Matt Lund, Donal McDermott and an Iain Henderson penalty accounted for Dale's goals in the first half of a one-sided affair at Spotland.
