Sheffield United are in talks to re-sign striker Ched Evans from Chesterfield, Sky sources understand.

Evans was released by Sheffield United after he was convicted of rape in 2012.

That conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal last April and he was found not guilty at a retrial in October - he had served two-and-a-half years of a five-year prison sentence.

It's a heavyweight week of action this week on Sky Sports with three huge Premier League games

Evans joined League One Chesterfield on a one-year deal last June and extended it by 12 months in January.

He has scored five goals in 25 League One games this season but the Spireites were condemned to relegation earlier this month.

At the other end of the table, Chris Wilder's Blades ran away with the League One title and head into the final game of the season needing a win to reach 100 points.
