Top scorer George Thomas opens new contract talks at Coventry

Coventry's leading goalscorer George Thomas has opened talks over a new deal, but nine players will be released at the end of the season.

The Sky Blues have announced that Nathan Clarke, Kevin Foley, Vladimir Gadzhev, Andy Rose, Ruben Lameiras and Marcus Tudgay are leaving when their contracts expire.

Highly-rated youngster Thomas looks set to stay despite City's relegation to Sky Bet League Two, while Lee Burge and Chris Stokes will be offered new deals.

It remains to be seen if Jordan Turnbull and Stuart Beavon will prolong their spells at the Ricoh Arena, with the pair having clauses in their current contracts allowing them to leave before July 31.
