Colchester have parted company with goalkeeper Chris Lewington.
The 27-year-old joined the U's from Dagenham & Redbridge in July 2014, but has found his first-team opportunities limited, making only two appearances.
Manager Tony Humes said on the club's official website: "We agreed at the end of last season with Chris that either he could find a new club or, if not, we'd take a decision on what's best for his future.
"We got towards the end of the transfer window and he decided that it's best for him to look for pastures new. I'm not sure he has anywhere lined up just yet, but we were keen to honour our agreement.
"He's been great around the club, but it was tough for him as a reasonably experienced goalkeeper not to be getting game time."
