Scunthorpe have signed central defender Cameron Burgess from Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract and becomes the Iron's first signing of the summer.

He has Sky Bet League One experience having had loan spells last season at Oldham and Bury, making a total of 41 appearances, and Scunthorpe boss Graham Alexander is looking forward to helping Burgess take the next step in his career.

"Cameron played a full season last year out on loan, and we know a lot about him. He's a player who is desperate to kick his career on now," Alexander told the club's official website.

"He's been out on loan from Fulham and wants to go out and be his own man, and find the best club to do that. After speaking to him on a few occasions, we've all decided this is the best club for him to do that.
