Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill and MK Dons counterpart Karl Robinson were in complete agreement that a draw was a fair result after a game of two halves at Ashton Gate.

The rival managers had no complaints about the outcome after seeing City dominate for 45 minutes, only for the Dons to completely overwhelm them in the second half.

In the end both sides had just a single goal to show for their efforts, Jonathan Kodjia's sixth of the season giving City an early lead and Daniel Powell's superb equaliser rewarding the Dons in stoppage time.

Cotterill said: "It's a tough result to take because of the timing of their goal, but MK Dons fully deserved it on their second-half display.

"I thought we had seen it out for a win we desperately needed, but in the end that didn't happen.

"We didn't keep possession in the second half. There were probably some nerves because of the desperation to give our fans the result they wanted.

"We have played against Powell a number of times and knew he would cut inside on to his right foot at the end. His shot had to be stopped.

"Now we have to look at ourselves at the bottom of the table for a couple of weeks, which no one wanted.

City went ahead after only six minutes when Bobby Reid took advantage of a mistake by Antony Kay to burst through the centre of the Dons defence.

The young midfielder coolly drew goalkeeper David Martin from his line and unselfishly fed the ball into the path of Kodjia, who was left with a simple tap-in from six yards.

The Dons snatched a point their pressure deserved at the death thanks to Powell's curling shot from 20 yards.

And Robinson was pleased to see his side rewarded for their efforts after the break.

He said: "A point was all we deserved. We were poor first half and Bristol came out of the blocks quickly. They scored, the fans responded and we had to ride our luck with some other chances.

"At half-time I had a strong word with my players about what it means to wear the shirt and the pride we all have in our club.

"I didn't see that in the first half, but in the second we showed it in abundance. It was a wonder goal from Powell, but the whole team deserved it in the end for the application and commitment shown.

"We may have nicked a point in the 90th minute, but I feel that we are moving on."
