Nottingham Forest's owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has agreed a deal to sell the club to the current Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis, Sky sources understand.

Both parties have now submitted all the necessary paperwork to the league for consideration, and it's understood the EFL is currently assessing whether Marinakis will pass their strict Owners and Directors tests.

Marinakis has been negotiating to buy Forest for some time, but was forced to withdraw his interest last summer as he faced a number of charges for alleged match fixing in his home country, Greece.

He has always maintained his innocence of any wrongdoing.

He saw a rival takeover attempt at the City Ground fail in January - that saw an American consortium led by John Jay Moores collapse in acrimonious circumstances.
