Swansea are interested in Avram Grant to replace Garry Monk as manager, Sky sources understand.

Monk was sacked on Wednesday following a poor run of form that leaves the club 15th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone.

City also parted company with Monk's backroom staff on Thursday, leaving first-team coach Alan Curtis to take training and he will be in charge for Saturday's game at Manchester City.

Grant's agent Saif Rubie said on Twitter: "On the record just to say, as Avram Grant's agent, that he is happy as the coach of @ghanafaofficial Blackstars. @SwansOfficial not in touch.

"Everything can change in football, however at this moment nothing new with Avram has been discussed and he is on official leave currently."

Grant has huge experience of English football, having had spells at Portsmouth, Chelsea - who he guided to the Champions League final in 2008 - and West Ham.

This year he led Ghana to the Africa Cup of Nations final, where they lost on penalties to Ivory Coast.

Grant is among the favourites with Sky Bet to land the job at the Liberty Stadium, while former Brighton and Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is another trading at a short price.

Brendan Rodgers, who managed Swansea from July 2010 until June 2012, remains in Sky Bet's list but is understood not to be under consideration.
