Swansea City's Paul Clement has been named Premier League manager of the month for January.

Clement was only confirmed as Bob Bradley's replacement at the Liberty Stadium on January 3 and his first month in charge proved to be a memorable one.

The Swans claimed a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on his first day in charge, although his first game at home proved to be a tough one as his side slumped to a 4-0 defeat against Arsenal.

But the rest of the month was positive for Swansea as they claimed six points out of six to climb out of the bottom three.

They provided one of the shocks of 2017 when securing a 3-2 win over Liverpool at Anfield, with Fernando Llorente scoring twice and Gylfi Sigurdsson grabbing the winner.

And Swansea would go on to secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they beat Southampton 2-1, with Sigurdsson again scoring the winner.

"I was a little bit surprised in a good way [to win the award], but I am pleased the impact has been recognised," Clement said. "It's a nice recognition of the work everyone has done this month.

"The players, most importantly, the backroom staff, but also the fans as well, getting behind the team and showing a real positive attitude towards supporting the team.

"They have been a big help but I will be judged at the end of May, that's what I'm very conscious of.

"I've got a lot of work to do. It's nice to this point, but it won't mean anything if at the end of the season we haven't achieved our objective."
