Roque Mesa not involved in the Swansea squad for their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Notts County, with Sevilla in talks to sign the midfielder on loan.
Sky Sports News understands the 28-year-old is frustrated with his first-team involvement at the Liberty Stadium and that he would be keen to return to his native Spain, just six months after leaving Las Palmas for the Premier League.
Swansea would potentially be willing to let Mesa leave as they have ample midfield options, plus his departure could free up their wage bill and help them in their hunt for a centre-forward.
Mesa, who cost Swansea £11m in the summer, has appeared on 16 occasions for the Welsh club this term, and has yet to score.
Carlos Carvalhal has already seen his side have a £14m bid rejected by West Ham for Andre Ayew, with the Hammers believed to be holding out for the £20m they paid Swansea for the player in 2016.
