Carlos Carvalhal believes Swansea's injury problems will give other players the chance to impress.

Carlos Carvalhal believes Swansea's injury problems will give their fringe players a chance to shine.

Swansea lost midfielder Leroy Fer and striker Wilfried Bony to season-ending injuries during their 1-1 draw with Leicester on Saturday.

Fer was stretchered off after rupturing his Achilles, while Bony fell awkwardly on his knee and has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

Despite the double blow, Swansea manager Carvalhal has been looking for the positives and said: "When a swan falls, another swan begins to fly.

"It is unfortunate that they can't play this season. Fer was doing really very well and Bony is growing up day by day.

"In attack, it will open more opportunities to Tammy Abraham. We believe a lot in the player.

"He knows what he must learn. He must be strong and when he does this he will be a more complete player."

"We also have another solution with a new player with Andy King. He is not available for the next game but he will be available at the weekend.

"And we have [Sam] Clucas who can play in the midfield. Also, Renato [Sanches] will recover in four or five weeks.

"We will not take any risks [in the FA Cup] because it is not our main competition so players such as Leon [Britton] and Angel [Rangel] will not be risked.

"But we will fight to win and we understand that the game will not be easy."
