Swansea winger Jefferson Montero has returned to Ecuador on a ‘sub-loan’ with former club Emelec for the rest of the season.

The 28-year-old joined La Liga side Getafe on a scheduled season-long loan in September but has subsequently made the move back to his homeland.

"Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero has returned to Ecuador after joining his former club Emelec on a sub-loan for the rest of the season, subject to international clearance," Swansea said on their official website.

"He remains on Getafe's books for the rest of the season, but he has now been loaned to Emelec from the La Liga club as the transfer window is open in Ecuador."
