Swansea manager Garry Monk reacted angrily to his side's first defeat of the season - a 1-0 loss at Watford.
Odion Ighalo's 59th-minute strike proved to be the winner for the Hornets, despite them having Valon Behrami shown a straight red card with 25 minutes remaining.
The Swans struggled to create chances, even with the extra man, and Monk insists his side deserved to be beaten at Vicarage Road.
He told Sky Sports: "We were poor and we got what we deserved. We lacked focus on the stuff we are usually good at as a team, in how we play.
"We just weren't at that today and unfortunately we didn't perform in the way wanted. We didn't do any of the things we know we're good at, and that's disappointing.
"We wanted to carry on the momentum we built from the opening games but it wasn't to be. The goal was a poor one to concede and it said it all.
"But we've said that if we can't play well then we at least need to make sure we don't concede."
Monk insisted Behrami deserved to be sent off for stamping on Andre Ayew's leg but also believed his side should have had a penalty when Bafetimbi Gomis went to ground in the box late on.
Monk said: "Obviously the sending-off changes the game. It was a dangerous tackle and a sending-off, and we hoped it would improve us but we had few chances.
"I think we should have had a penalty that wasn't given, but that's not why we lost the game."
