Huddersfield's Jonathan Hogg was taken to hospital with a head injury sustained in Friday's Championship match against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
The midfielder was hurt after just eight minutes when he appeared to collide with team-mate Mark Hudson after stopping a run by Bristol City's Lee Tomlin.
Following a lengthy delay, which led to 15 minutes of added time at the end of the first half, he was carried off the pitch on a stretcher.
A spokesman for Huddersfield confirmed Hogg had been taken to hospital with an injury to the head and neck region.
Bristol City won the game 4-0 and, in his after match interview on Sky Sports, Huddersfield boss David Wagner said he felt Hogg's injury had an adverse effect on his players.
He explained: "I am sure the situation with Jonathan Hogg caused us maybe mentally some problems."
But Wagner refused to blame the result on Hogg's injury, adding: "We were not able to do what we usually do."
