Midfielder Philip Billing has become the latest member of Huddersfield Town's squad to sign an extended contract.

Billing, 21, joined the club as a 16-year-old from Danish club Esbjerg and was part of the squad that secured promotion to the Premier League last season.

His new deal runs until the summer of 2020 and also includes a club option for a further year's extension.

The 6ft 6in midfielder is closing on 50 senior appearances for the club and the Denmark U21 international has won the club's Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards during his time in West Yorkshire.

Chris Lowe, Elias Kachunga, Jonathan Hogg, Tommy Smith, Rajiv van La Parra and Christopher Schindler have also signed fresh terms ahead of their first season as a Premier League club.

Head Coach David Wagner said: "Philip is such a big talent; he has everything you want from a modern midfielder. He has big physical attributes, a fantastic range of passing and good football intelligence.

"He has been at Huddersfield Town for a long time now, so it's easy to forget that he is still only 21 years old! That means he still has lots of space to develop into.

"I'm very excited to see how he copes with Premier League football. Philip has had a good pre-season and I think it is now the time to show everyone what he is capable of on the highest stage.

"If he develops as we hope, his next three years at the club will be very exciting for our fans."
