Huddersfield cancelled their trip back to Yorkshire to celebrate at a nightclub in London after securing Premier League safety

Huddersfield Town celebrated their Premier League survival on a night out in west London, after cancelling their scheduled flight back.

The Terriers secured their top-flight status for another season on Wednesday after holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner revealed his players originally insisted on going back to Yorkshire on a bus so they could celebrate their survival with "more than one beer".

However, the night took an unexpected twist when it turned out that their driver was out of hours and was therefore unable to drive the squad back to the north until the following morning.

With no hotel booked, the Huddersfield squad instead opted to spend the night at a club and travel back to the north on a train the following day.

Jonas Lossl, who proved to be the hero against Chelsea after making a number of crucial saves for his side, took to social media midway through the night to provide fans with a glimpse of the squad's post-match celebrations.

Yorkshire Cricket Club head coach Andrew Gayle was among those to offer the squad his congratulations after the match, tweeting: "Wow, how good was that!! That is what team spirit is all about!! Love that club."
