Brighton have agreed a compensation package with Aston Villa after assistant manager Colin Calderwood left the club on Thursday.
Former Northampton, Nottingham Forest and Hibernian boss Calderwood resigned from his post with Albion the day before they drew 1-1 with Villa.
Brighton have now confirmed Calderwood's official departure from the Amex Stadium, as they begin their search for a new assistant to manager Chris Hughton.
"Brighton & Hove Albion today [Saturday] confirmed they agreed a compensation package with Aston Villa, shortly ahead of last night's match, allowing for Colin Calderwood's release from his notice period this weekend," read an official statement from Brighton.
"The club would like to thank Colin for his service since February 2015 and to wish him well for the future.
"Brighton & Hove Albion will now look to finalise its recruitment process for a new assistant manager."
Brighton remain second in the Sky Bet Championship after their draw against Villa, who are yet to comment on the matter.
