Goalkeeper David Stockdale has rejected a new contract offer from Brighton, according to Sky sources.

The 31-year-old's current three-year deal is about to expire and, as things stand, he is set to become a free agent.

At Brighton's Premier League-promotion celebrations last week, Stockdale told Sky Sports News HQ that he was hoping to stay and help the club remain in the top flight.

He said: "I am out of contract but, over the next days and weeks, a lot of things can happen.

"I want to stay and be part of Brighton's history. We've done it once by getting promoted to the Premier League. Hopefully I can help them stay there."

Stockdale signed for the Seagulls from Fulham in 2014 and has been instrumental in their promotion campaign this term.
