Brighton land March from neighbours Lewes

Championship side Brighton have confirmed the signing of Solly March from non-league neighbours Lewes. Skysports.com exclusively broke the news of Brighton's bid for the 17-year-old, who has now signed for the Seagulls. March had attracted interest from the Premier League with Newcastle and Sunderland both keen on the left-sided player. But March has opted to stay on his native South Coast and has agreed a move to the Amex Stadium. Brighton director of football Martin Hinshelwood said: "He's been recommended to us a couple of times and we've been following him for a while now, in which time he's impressed us all.

Good feet

"He's a local lad and it got to the stage where a few other clubs became very keen on him, so we completed the deal and we're looking forward to working with him. "He's a left-sided player and he's played in most positions this season for his school, St Bede's, but we feel his best position for us will be as a wide player. He's good on the ball, he's got good feet and a very good delivery. "I know that the football we play in the youth set-up is going to suit his style of play so we're pleased that he's decided he wants to come to us. "It's a good move for him but also the way that the manager wants to play will hopefully be good for him in the future. "He's bright and lively on the ball and he's got very good passing ability. We will need him to get on the ball as much as possible in the wide areas."
