Sunderland have agreed a £2.5million fee with Brighton for winger Will Buckley, according to Sky sources.
Buckley was Brighton's record signing when Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, then in charge at the Amex, paid Watford £1m for him in June 2011.
The 24-year-old is also reportedly attracting attention of West Brom, who Sunderland face in their Premier League opener at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
Poyet has already signed Jack Rodwell, Billy Jones, Jordi Gomez, Costel Pantilimon and Patrick van Aanholt this summer and has also been linked with a permanent move for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini, who was on loan at the club last season.
Oldham-born Buckley began his career at Rochdale before signing for Watford in January 2010.
